Understanding VTU CBCS Grading System
Visvesvaraya Technological University (VTU) implements the Choice Based Credit System (CBCS) across all affiliated engineering institutions. Students receive an SGPA (Semester Grade Point Average) each semester and an overall CGPA (Cumulative Grade Point Average) upon graduation.
Official VTU Percentage Conversion Formula
Under official VTU guidelines (for 2018, 2021, and 2022 schemes), the formula to convert your Cumulative Grade Point Average into Percentage is:
VTU Percentage (%) = (CGPA - 0.75) × 10
Example Calculation:
If an engineering graduate completes 8 semesters with a 7.85 CGPA:
Percentage = (7.85 - 0.75) × 10 = 7.10 × 10 = 71.0%
